Hydroponic production of ornamental sunflower with cooling of the nutrient solution and planting density

Abstract The temperature of the nutrient solution is one main obstacles hydroponic production in hot climates and can affect absorption plants. Additionally, cultivation cut flowers rarely done, hence, there a lack studies on this topic. objective experiment was to determine ideal as well influence plant density factor for NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) cultivar Girassol de Jardim Amarelo Alto, ISLA ® . installed greenhouse, with 50% shading. adopted completely randomized design factorial scheme plots subdivided space, composed two densities (15 30 plants m-2) subplots four temperatures (20, 25, °C uncontrolled temperature) three replications each. variables analyzed were height, stem diameter, internal external diameter flower, number leaves, buds flowers, dry fresh root mass, shoot cycle. data submitted an analysis variance using statistical software SISVAR. 15 m-2 proved be more efficient, presenting commercialization standard. Cooling did not improve quality sunflower flowers.
